To Connect Two Laptops Using LAN
Step 1. First, Connect the both laptops using crossover LAN cable with RJ-45 connector.
Step 2. Open the control panel >> choose network and sharing center.
Step 3. Select change adapter settings option.
Step 4. Now you will see a popup window.
Step 5. You could see Lan adapters. RightClick on the correctly installed adapter and select its properties.
Step 6. From the properties, Click on the Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) and Select Properties button.
Step 7. Then, enter IP addresses in both the laptops as given below.
IP Settings In First Computer / Laptop
IP address 192.168.0.1 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
IP Settings In Second Computer / Laptop
IP address is 192.168.0.2 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Step 8. Enter IP addresses >> restart your laptops and open Start Menu >> Select network tab by entering the network.
Step 9. In Network tab you could see the list of all connected computers to the same network.
Step 10. Now the computers are successfully connected, you have to share drives to transfer files over the network.
Step 11. RightClick the drives which you want to share and then select the Share with the option. After that select advanced sharing option.
Step 12. Now you could see the drive Properties Window >> Click on the advanced sharing button.
Step 13. You could see the next window with a check box. Select the checkbox and click Ok Button.
Step 14. You can change permission to full control/change/read only.
- Share the folders from which you want to transfer files.
